If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, what is an empty desk a sign of?

Thinking about signing up for that 50, 000 words in a month thing, so I’ve been scouring my documents folder (while the dissertation lays cruelly unattended), looking for a start, and I found this.

My mind

Weightless

Like

Swings

In the empty park

A windy restlessness

Tugging at the metal bind

Dancing with the dust

Lifting,

Looping,

Leaving,

Staying-

Binding attachment.

(Correction: It’s 80 000 words. That’s 80 000 recreational words. My dissertation’s going to be jealous. I’ll keep the peace rather.)

gauri, glad you do 🙂

waseem, erm about 2000 words :p 80 000 is way out of my league but if I had more time I would’ve signed up, just for the fun of it.

patrick, that is actually very insightful. alarmingly so.
thanks for the visit.

>An empty desk could be a sign of “the need for a new start”. Because when its empty you have the chance to start from scratch, the way you want and to the better.. I think..

>i like the image
and binding attachment
because sometimes we want to let go of our minds
but our minds won’t let go of us
some cognitive processes are more equal than others 😛

>Woah 80000 words, thats alot. Whats the longest story you’ve ever written.
